4pelagatos: Correa and Moreno unite in the streets those who are “pissed off.”

Put in another way: if Rafael Correa wants Lenin Moreno not to be president, he is doing very well. The National Electoral Council (CNE), with its fraudulent moves, has raised disgust to levels that the government did not imagine. Its crooked political move has activated and taken to the streets tens of thousands of people from all political edges that defend democracy, transparency of the electoral process, the integrity of results. Now, these people realize the profoundly undemocratic and corrupt nature of the Correism. Its obsessive and fatal will to cling to power by lying, cheating, distorting reality, inciting even violence is becoming evident.

For years, the Correism mocked the most fundamental values of democracy and citizen coexistence. It wanted to make believe that citizens were nothing because it was represented by a warlord and his party. It wanted to make believe that its institutions defended the general interest. It wanted to make us think that they were more, much more, and that was enough to denigrate and persecute those who opposed its lies, its fictions turned into official truths, its traps made to cover up its dull administration and its corrupt hierarchs.

All that is crumbling in the streets. The Correism, through its voracity and felonies, has conducted a quick civic training: in a few hours, many citizens have understood that there is no democracy, that democracy does not work without minimum agreements, without shared values, without authorities dedicated to defending the public interest. They have understood that without such agreements and minimum values it is impossible to express and process the political and ideological differences freely.
