125 thousand students are trained on risky migration

Posted On 09 May 2018

Ecuadortimes:

Around 125,000 students from bilingual intercultural and intercultural educational institutions in the provinces of Cañar, Chimborazo and Imbabura, are trained in risky migration.

It is a pilot project promoted by the Ministries of Education, Interior, and Foreign Affairs, in addition to the National Council for Equality of Human Mobility. The project, which in the later part will be extended to the national level, aims to deliver informative brochures and other didactic materials in the different educational entities and to complement them with an explanation, said the Deputy Minister of Education, Álvaro Sáenz.

After noting that there are 17,000 teachers and 294 professionals from the departments of Student Counseling, he pointed out that the training is already being applied and that an evaluation will be carried out at the end of the current school term.

The Human Mobility Law seeks to combat the smuggling of migrants; without a doubt, the most efficient public policy is the one that prevents a problem before it happens and one of the forms is the Pilot Project, said the Undersecretary of Migration of the Ministry of the Interior, Alexis Eskandani.

He added that out of 2,000 registered cases, 40% of trafficking and trafficking victims are children and adolescents. (I)
