Pre-campaign that is installed on the web
Ecuadornews:

The mission is to gain time and step by step control. Although some still say they are not sure of accepting the candidacy for the mayoralty of Quito, all those who sound like pre-candidates are already promoted on social networks.
The visualoffer is varied. It goes from productions made with drones, moving cameras andactors, to simpler photographs or videos, but always with the politician inaction. Facebook and Twitter are the favorite niches.
So far there are 10 pre-candidates who have the backing of political organizations recognized by the National Electoral Council (CNE) and four others who continue to seek the support of a party or movement.
All, without exception, publish from their personal accounts or from their profilesof public figures messages, activities and everything that has to do with theirintention to direct the Metropolitan Council of Quito.
Some have more faith, or more resources, than others in social networks. In the first group are Daniela Chacón, Paco Moncayo, Jorge Yunda and Juan Carlos Holguín, and César Montúfar and Mauricio Pozo. Interviews, forums or live broadcasts are their favorites.
On the rise you can see Natasha Rojas and José Vásquez, who have paid special attention to the social network Facebook. Somewhat behind are Pablo Dávalos, who has the support of Pachakutik, and the pre-candidates who still do not have support: Victor Hugo Erazo, Ivone Von Lipke and Francisco Lamiña, who wants to run for mayor for the second time.
The consultant and political strategist Gustavo Isch has doubts about the effectiveness of social networks against the electorate. He considers that the number of users who use these technologies in the country is still marginal and focused.
“In addition, social networks, although they can be the space to disseminate ideas and proposals, have also become a sort of false news and insults store, therefore it can be counterproductive,” Isch told EXPRESO.
According to the current electoral calendar for the sectional elections, the official electoral campaign will be between February 5 and March 21. The call for elections will be fulfilled next Wednesday and the next day begins the registration of candidates, so it is expected that the promotion in networks will increase from that date.
The control of the network, the eternal debate
The electoral promotion in social networks and other technological platforms is not regulated by the Code of Democracy.
This has been one of the debates among election officials in the last decade. While some considered that it was necessary to regulate what happens on the Internet, others consider it almost impossible and unnecessary.
Ischpoints out that this lack of control of the networks also influences thepre-candidates choosing to start their promotion through technological means. (I)
