The Opportunity Funds program, administered and financed by the Embassy of the United States, opens its call for 2021 until February 15.
Ecuadorians who wish to study in the United States can do so through Opportunity Funds
The program focuses on financially supporting gifted and low-income students in their application process to universities in the United States. Each year about six Ecuadorian students are chosen to participate in this program. Its goal is for students to be admitted to universities in the United States that fully cover tuition and maintenance through a full scholarship.
Opportunity Funds focuses on giving the student personalized advice, supporting him throughout the application process and covering all costs that includes preparation and registration for standardized exams, national and international postage costs, certificate translation costs and others. documents, student visa application cost and airfare to the United States.
This was the case of Alejandra Soria, a 17-year-old Ecuadorian, who was chosen to participate in this program.
“Thanks to Opportunity Funds, I had the opportunity to apply to eight universities in the United States. After waiting several months for an answer, I was accepted to multiple universities with a good percentage of scholarships, but the University of Pennsylvania was the one I most wanted to enter, ”says Soria.
The program is focused on financially supporting outstanding high school and university students who want to carry out their undergraduate or graduate studies in the United States, but who do not have the financial resources to cover the costs of the application process for scholarships at universities in that country.
“If it hadn’t been for Opportunity Funds and EducationUSA, I would have been at a loss during the entire application process. The program advises you, helps you apply, covers the cost of the exams and the preparation to take them, ”adds Soria.
In addition to Opportunity Funds, EducationUSA also offers free advisory services to the community throughout the year so that students interested in studying in the United States can achieve this dream.
Soria will begin her studies in Business and International Studies in August and, although she says the process was arduous and long, she assures that the support of her EducationUSA advisor was very important.
