Posted On 15 Jul 2021

The Metropolitan Control Agency (AMC) reported what the fine will be for the citizen who abandoned ‘Algodoncito’ in Conocoto , in the Los Chillos Valley, southeast of Quito.

According to a 2018 study by the San Francisco de Quito University, there are around 600,000 companion animals that are on the streets, enduring hunger, cold and rain without a home.

The man who left the dog was identified thanks to a video that went viral on social networks.

According to the authorities, the fine that the citizen must pay is based on the provisions of Metropolitan Ordinance 019-2020.

In this way, the citizen will have to pay 10 unified basic salaries, that is, USD 4,000.

The incident was reported on July 7, 2021, by a user of the social network Twitter, @Waponi. The person posted the video on that platform, where the scene is recorded from a security camera. The video caused outrage among users of virtual platforms.

According to a study carried out in 2018 by the San Francisco de Quito University, there are around 600 thousand pets that are on the streets, enduring hunger, cold and rain without a home.
