Man who abandoned a dog will be fined USD 4,000 in Quito
The Metropolitan Control Agency (AMC) reported what the fine will be for the citizen who abandoned ‘Algodoncito’ in Conocoto , in the Los Chillos Valley, southeast of Quito.

According to a 2018 study by the San Francisco de Quito University, there are around 600,000 companion animals that are on the streets, enduring hunger, cold and rain without a home.
The man who left the dog was identified thanks to a video that went viral on social networks.
According to the authorities, the fine that the citizen must pay is based on the provisions of Metropolitan Ordinance 019-2020.
In this way, the citizen will have to pay 10 unified basic salaries, that is, USD 4,000.
The incident was reported on July 7, 2021, by a user of the social network Twitter, @Waponi. The person posted the video on that platform, where the scene is recorded from a security camera. The video caused outrage among users of virtual platforms.
