Deep concern. Importers have expressed their dissatisfaction with the $ 0.10 rate all imported goods shall pay for customs service and that will be in effect from Monday.

The measure will come into effect from January 1, 2018, for postal traffic (Correos del Ecuador), couriers, customs transit and transshipment, according to the First Supplement of the Official Register No. 115.

This means that purchases made on Amazon, Wish or Alibaba, that are brought through the system known as “courier” will have to pay a $ 0.10 fee.

Couriers owners believe that the measure will affect their business, as it has happened with previous rates and surcharges. (I)
