A gang that smuggled cocaine into Spain from Ecuador was dismantled
The arrested, aged between 19 and 57, are of Spanish nationality, except one person from Ecuador.
All of them are charged with crimes against public health, money laundering and membership of a criminal organization, reported the Civil Guard, which conducted the operation along with the National Police and the Tax Agency.
The arrested managed a network of companies which imported the drug hidden in heavy machinery from Ecuador and then transferred it to a warehouse located in Madrid, where they disarmed the machines to extract the drug.
The investigation began in late September and its development allowed to intercept two shipments of more than 200 kilograms of cocaine each.
The drug traveled from Guayaquil (Ecuador) by boat to the Valencia Port (East), to be finally trucked to Madrid.
The criminal gang took advantage of the shipping of heavy machinery, the same that was equipped with a cloaking device on the main closure, thus, after removing the oil tank, they introduced cocaine.
During the operation, numerous documents have been seized, mobile phones and six vehicles, one of them prepared with a double bottom.
