A new rice crop is expected for 2014
Rice farmers from the province of Los Ríos, expect heavy rains to moisten the soil properly, which has been prepared for weeks, and recover the losses from last year.
The undersecretary of marketing of the Ministry of Agriculture, Carla Chehab announced that the entity will deliver, next March, 40,000 kits with a 50% subsidy, at a cost of $300, as an immediate operation for support and regulation of the Ministry of Agriculture for the first half of the production year.
Each kit is formed by 70 different packages of specific inputs, so that the registered farmer can choose. All come with certified seed and agricultural insurance as a basic requirement for the investment of not more than 10 hectares for crops, from 3 to 5.5 tonnes of paddy rice.
The National Storage Unit, will participate in the purchase of grain from small producers, associated or not. They will conduct business conferences between producers and manufacturers.
