Taking as reference the International Day of Museums, the idea of disseminating a selection of 21 manuscripts that are part of a documentary collection and tell us about the struggle of the Afro-Ecuadorian people for equal rights, recognition, visibility and the achievement of a space in society, the Historical Archive of Guayas will allow us to take a look at the courage of some Afrodescendants who fought against an oppressive system existing in the port city between 1777 and 1900.

The exhibition also includes history records of Afrodescendants who earned the respect of the society, obtaining their freedom, as it is the case of Maria del Tránsito Sorroza and of Maria Chiquinquirá (I).
