Patricio Barriga, National Secretary of Communication, in an interview with daily El Comercio, said that in the construction of a news, especially by the private media, there is a negative behind. He denies that the public media are governmental and states reasoned reviews are welcome.
He states that one of the greatest threats of freedom has been the influence of advertisers on various contents proposed by the media “and one of the greatest threats were the real powers.”
He explains that one of the greatest achievements is the new constitution but also a legislation such as the Communication Act, “that begins to consider a change in the relationship of power and ownership of the media and that finally allows a greater citizen participation.”
He ensures that the information of the CORDICOM and the SECOM has always been available and has not required a decision by a judge.
Finally, he said there is still much to do in the SECOM and “for that we actually need to make all the the professional and personal effort to improve the channels of information.”
