After complaint, IAEN asks National Audit Office to audit salaries

Director (e) of the National Institute of Advanced Studies (IAEN) Analia Minteguiaga asked the National Audit Office to initiate a special examination after the complaint of a double compensation in her favor.
Minteguiaga is the Vice President of the so-called Postgraduate State University and wife of Rene Ramirez, head of the National Secretariat of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Senescyt).
Last Tuesday, through an official letter, she requested Controller Carlos Polit to initiate “a special examination to the accounts of the university, in order that remunerations paid to the authorities, professors and administrative staff of the institution during the months of January, February, March, April, May, June 2016 are analyzed.”
The letter, which is posted on the website of the IAEN, features Minteguiaga´s signature as Director in charge.
Besides, an institutional newsletter explains that the request responds to an “exercise of transparency and honesty.”
The reaction came after the Internet websote Mil Hojas reported that the academician charged a “double salary” in February, March and April.
