Cubans case reveal legal contradiction
Posted On 13 Jul 2016
The Migration Act governs from 1971, from the time of the dictatorship. With this standard, 75 Cuban citizens have been deported in recent days from Quito to Havana. Two articles of the legislation -29 and 28- are questioned by legal experts who defend the foreigners. They ensure that they violate rights and are against the Constitution.
But this warning is not the only one. In March 2014, Contraventions Judge Paola Campana sent to the Constitutional Court (CC) a similar case to which is currently occurring with the islanders. That year, she worked on deportation proceedings against an Italian, for staying more time than that granted by the authorities.
