Alianza País loses municipalities and prefectures in four provinces

Posted On 01 Mar 2014

Screen Shot 2014-03-01 at 10.19.02According to partial data from the National Electoral Council (CNE) indicate that Alianza PAIS (AP) would not achieve not one of the 32 municipalities that were disputed in last Sunday’s local elections in those jurisdictions.

Carchi, Loja, Sucumbios and Galapagos reflect unfavorable election results for the dignity of mayor for the oficialism.

For Alianza País these results would mean an electoral setback, according to consulted political representatives, because their organization in 2009 triumphed in the elections and got 12 municipalities: 5 in Loja, 3 in Carchi, 3 in Sucumbios and 1 in Galapagos.

Virtual AP output of municipalities in these provinces was advantage of other organizations such as Avanza and CREO that consolidated their presence in these provinces.

The oficialism neither caught the prefectures of Carchi, Sucumbios and Loja. The Movement for Democratic Integration of Carchi, Patriotic Society and the alliance CREO-Convocation will now be in charge of these jurisdictions, respectively.
