Correa does not discard reelection for 2017
President Rafael Correa left open the possibility to concur again to the 2017 presidential election.
Correa warned yesterday that before the “clouds” which envision “on the horizon of the Citizen Revolution” after the loss of the mayoral elections in Quito on 23 February, he will evaluate its decision of not be launched to a reelection.
For Correa, on the Ecuadorian capital, “has earned a distinct right side, who has power strategy and falls within the framework of the imperial offensive against the progressive governments of Latin America.”
“So I think it is my duty to review the sincere decision I made of not be launched for reelection, because I have a responsibility to ensure that this process be irreversible,” he said.
The president considered it necessary that the country begins to discuss the constitutional restrictions on re-election.
