Alianza Pais Movement Seeks Successor to Lenin Moreno

Minister of Sport, Jose Francisco Cevallos, is on top of the polls as a replacement for Lenin Moreno.

The executive secretary of Alianza Pais (AP), Galo Mora, said today that within the movement, names or profiles for that office have not arisen, however, he said that some members are “making merits” with President Rafael Correa, to accompany him on the ballot.

Mora spoke of party members like Minister of Sport, Jose Francisco Cevallos, Minister for Social Inclusion, Doris Soliz, Minister of Heritage, Maria Fernanda Espinosa, Foreign Minister Ricardo Patiño, the U.S. ambassador, Nathalie Cely, and chairman of the Ecuadorian Social Security Institute (IESS for its spanish acronym), Ramiro Gonzalez.

Finding a successor to “an extraordinary human being and politician,” as it is Lenin Moreno, will require an “extensive analysis” of the National Executive Committee of AP and Rafael Correa himself, if it comes to realize the application for re-election of Correa. (MZ)
