Alleged signals from the black boxes of the AirAsia plane are detected
Search teams have detected signals this Friday that could come from the black boxes of the AirAsia plane and are currently working to confirm this information.
“We are following the sound, we have sent divers,” said the chief of the Indonesian Armed Forces, General Moeldoko, according to the Indonesian media Detik.
The soldier, who was on board the KRI Banda Aceh vessel, explained that the signal comes from “a point located 300 meters” where they found a section of the tail of the wreckedAirbus 320-200.
This is the first time that Indonesian authorities discussed the detection of acoustic signals supposedly from the black boxes, whose batteries last an average of 30 days, usually 13 daysafter tracking the aircraft.
Meanwhile, another operative worked today to bail out the tail section after failed attempts conducted on Thursday, and also tried to confirm that a fragment corresponding to the nose of the aircraft was found.
A third group was dedicated to the search and retrieval of fragments and the bodies of the coprses of the plane that crashed into the Java Sea with 162 people on board on 28th December.
