Parents who owe the alimony of their children will have two alternatives to avoid jail.

The first will be wearing an electronic bracelet during the day, which is a monitoring system in real time, and spending the night in prison.

And the second: the payment of the debt by the Ecuadorian State and the deduction of  this value with work of the defendant. This was announced by the Minister of Justice of Ecuador, Ledy Zuniga, during her speech at the weekly address number 458.

The Minister showed one of the devices that arrived to the country in the last week of last year and since this month are being tested, as she reported on her Twitter account on December 28, 2015.

In a first study, the purchase of 5,456 bracelets and an investment of USD 18 million for the entire system was estimated. In the case of alimony debtors, they could take it to work while a monitoring center registers their movements. These will be interconnected with the ECU 911 Emergency Service.
