Alvaro Noboa Complaints on Ecuavisa Journalistic Work
In a brief press conference today, Alvaro Noboa, Ecuador’s presidential pre-candidate, spoke about the journalistic work done by a local television channel.
“I want to publicly denounce the work Ecuavisa is doing that goes against freedom of the press and all the principles of journalism.”
“Ecuavisa has once again decided that I am not their candidate (…) so they are not going to cover me during my campaign, like they did in 1998 when they openly and publicly supported Jamil Mahuad (…) as they did in 2002 when (…) they supported Colonel Lucio Gutierrez. They did the same in 2006 when they supported Rafael Correa because they decided that I was not their candidate. And we are 2012 and also Ecuavisa has solved that I am not their candidate, neither Lucio Gutierrez nor Economist Correa. So they have chosen a candidate to promote and they have closed the channel to the other presidential candidates.”
Noboa said he is in favor of press freedom that is why he regretted the attitude of the owner of television channel and his attitude with public figures of the country.
“Xavier Alvarado is one of the Ecuadorians that has caused most damage to Ecuador when he choose his candidates that in some way or another have done a grave disservice to the country (…) Xavier Alvarado is full of hatred, envy and complex and his reflection is in his channel (…) But the news is a right of all Ecuadorians.”
POLITICAL PARTY PRIAN SOLVED TO REMOVE ASSEBLYMAN VARGAS FROM HIS POST
“I want to announce that PRIAN Assembly members have solved to expel from the party to Assemblyman Wladimir Vargas because he is a traitor. Traitor to the party’s principles, traitor to the people who elected him with an specific mandate, traitor to his country, Ecuador.” (FL)
