The Falkland Islands would celebrate a referendum in the first half of 2013 to end the conflict between Argentina and Stanley Port, the government of the South Atlantic Islands.
The United Kingdom prime minister, David Cameron praised the planned Falkland Islands referendum over its sovereignty. Cameron said their perspective “do matter” and told Argentina not to ignore them.
David Cameron added that the UK will “respect and defend” the result of these polls and expects that UN also accept the decision of the people in the island.
Meanwhile the president of the Legislative Assembly of the Island Gavin Short, informed that the population of the Falklands will like to remain as a territory dependent of the UK and not under the sovereignty of Argentina who claims the islands since 1833. (AV)
