According to a legal challenge interposed this Wednesday, Ecuadoreans who won a millionaire environmental lawsuit against Chevron would claim to keep the $ 106 million the state owes to the oil company.
The organization formed by settlers and Amazon Indigenous, who declare being affected by the US company, went to the Ecuadorian courts to request the State to deposit them that sum of money instead of granting it to Chevron.
“This is a real debt of the State with Chevron, and Chevron has a real debt with us. What we are doing is a cross” of accounts, Pablo Fajardo, lawyer for the plaintiffs said.
