An Ecuadorian is arrested in Mexico with almost two tons of cocaine
Ecuadornews:
An Ecuadorian was arrested on the coasts of the state of Guerrero, southern Mexico, allegedly with nearly two tons of cocaine he was carrying in a speedboat, reported the Navy Secretariat of Mexico (Semar).
In the operation, the naval agents detained a person, of Ecuadorian nationality, aboard a boat with two high-powered engines carrying 75 packages weighing approximately 1,860 kilograms.
Semar confirmed that the alleged offender was detained aboard a smaller vessel “in possession of almost two tons of white powder with characteristics similar to those of cocaine”, 87 nautical miles (161 kilometers) southeast of the port of Acapulco.
The maritime and acting authority of Coast Guard also sighted last Thursday a vessel with suspicious cargo, so it began an operation with four surface units (ships and boats) and three aircraft that forced the boat, occupied by several people, to touch land in Punta Maldonado, Guerrero.
In a video broadcast by the Semar you can see several minutes of the chase and the moment in which the boat reached the aforementioned beach, where immediately descended several people who managed to evade the security forces while they descended from a helicopter. (I)
