Apple Removed Wikileaks App from Its Store
According to a PC Magazine publication, a WikiLeaks App that was submitted to Apple’s App Store on December 11th and approved for sale on December 17th at $1.99.
The app itself included auto-forward to a WikiLeaks mirror site, full access to the WikiLeaks Web site, access to Twitter posts that mention WikiLeaks.
The description of the app said “gives instant access to the world’s most documented leakage of top secret memos and other confidential government documents,” it also said that $1 from every purchase would be donated to Wikileaks. “Internet democracy requires funds to stay strong. By purchasing the Wikileaks app, you donate 1 dollar of the purchase price towards organizations that work to promote the future of online,” said Igor Barinov, the developer of the app.
However, on December 20th, the description changed to “Removed from sale”.
Barinov, who is not associated with Wikileaks, tweeted that Apple pulled the app “without reasons”.
