Arcsa warned that Sascha Fitness brand products were risky. But hours later the institution issued a rectification.

The National Agency for Health Regulation, Control and Surveillance (Arcsa) rectified the information provided in the morning about Sascha Fitness products, from the renowned influencer Sascha Barboza.
Through social networks, Arcsa reported that the products do have health notification, so they can be marketed and distributed in the country.
What happened?
In the morning, Arcsa issued an alert regarding the marketing of Sascha Fitness brand products.
The entity reported that the company’s products, including collagen and protein, are not registered in the country.
“After the review of the databases that rest in the Agency, it is verified that said products do not have a health notification in the category of food supplements. That is, they are not registered in the country,” the control entity pointed out.
And he added that these products represented a risk to the health of consumers and recommends not ingesting them.
In addition, he recalled that the alert came after the National Institute for Food and Drug Surveillance of Colombia demanded that Sascha Fitness withdraw its products. This is because the brand marketed them as medicines, when they should be considered food, for which it issued a health registry years ago.
Due to the proximity between Ecuador and Colombia, Arcsa also said that there was the possibility that counterfeit products entered the country illegally across the border.
To avoid this problem, the Ecuadorian authorities were going to implement operations and control actions on virtual platforms and social networks where the commercialization of these products is verified.
Consumption recommendations
The Arcsa released recommendations to prevent citizens from consuming products that can cause damage to health:
- Acquire products that have a valid Ecuadorian health registration or health notification, and that these are only purchased in authorized establishments.
- Inform Arcsa about the sale or distribution of products without health notification, through its social networks or the Arcsa Móvil application.
