Argentinean filmmaker Alejandro Agresti, is preparing to film a biopic about the first Latin American Jesuit pope in history: Pope Francisco.

Variety magazine reported on Monday that the movie “Story of a priest,” tells the story of Jorge Bergoglio from his beginnings, his early years in Buenos Aires as archbishop of the city o, until his unexpected position as first head of the Catholic Church in the world.

“(…) I’m more worried about getting into this very unique person, his decision to follow his vocation and how he combined his faith and reason after studying for 14 years before being ordained Jesuit,” said Agresti told Variety.

Argentine actor Rodrigo de la Serna, known for his role of Alberto Granado in the also biopic of  Ernesto “Che” Guevara, “The Motorcycle Diaries”, will be the one who embodies the Pope Francisco in the fil.

It will be filmed in Argentina, Italy and Germany and still no release date, however it is known that the film will be spoken in Spanish and Italian. The film is produced by Argentina’s Pampa Films and Spanish Pentagram.

Argentine director and have directed films like The Lake House, Buenos Aires vice versa, the wind took it, among others.
