Assange case remains unresolved
From Guatemala, during a visit to participate in the V Esquipulas Forum, Spanish lawyer Baltasar Garzon, legal representative of Julian Assange, said his client has suffered “inhuman treatment” after 2 years of living as a political refugee in the Embassy of Ecuador in London.
“The situation is the same: we are working for the freedom of Julian to be recognized by the Svea Court of Appeal in Stockholm (…) If it does not work, we will appeal to the Supreme Court (of Sweden) and we are are also demanding the intervention from the United Nations, denouncing the situation of helplessness in which Assange is,” said Garzon.
On his behalf on last Monday, the founder of WikiLeaks predicted his “prompt” exit from the embassy without specifying how or when.
