Assange invites Guillermo Lasso to “withdraw” from Ecuador
Posted On 03 Apr 2017
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange called on the right-wing opposition candidate Guillermo Lasso to leave the country in a month.
“I cordially invite Mr. Lasso to withdraw from Ecuador in the next 30 days (with or without his offshore millions) îAssangeYESLassoNO,” the Australian wrote on his Twitter account.
Assange set the same deadline that Lasso gave to the WikiLeaks founder to leave the Ecuadorian embassy in London in case of winning the presidency. Assange has remained refugee there since 2012 to avoid being extradited to Sweden for alleged sexual offenses, a charge he denies.
Last February, Lasso told AFP that “within the framework of human rights and respect for international law, we will order Mr. Assange to evacuate the Ecuadorian embassy in London in no more than 30 days after our government begins.”
