Ecuador’s Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino announced yesterday he will offer this Thursday a press conference with the founder of the complaints website Wikileaks, Julian Assange, regarding the two years he has been a refugee in the Ecuadorian embassy in London.

Patiño through his Twitter account said: “Thursday we will do joint press conference with Julian Assange exactly two years after his admission to Embassy of Ecuador in London,” without giving further details.

Assange entered to the embassy of Ecuador in London on June 19, 2012, carrying an asylum application for President Rafael Correa, because he felt helpless and presumed that his life was at risk if he was extradited to the U.S. from Sweden.

For his part, the President of the Republic Rafael Correa said yesterday that the UK and Sweden “are playing with the human rights of a person”, commenting on the issue, adding that both countries have the solution.
