After 29 speeches and with 111 votes in favor, the plenary session of the National Assembly unanimously approved the draft resolutions that were requested by Assemblymen Lenín Plaza (PAIS), Wendy Vera (Citizen Revolution) and César Carrión (CREO) . The theme revolved around the events that took place on the northern border.
The 509th session that began at 3:00 pm was for the National Assembly to take action against the conflict that the country is experiencing in the Mataje area.
Finally, the session that ended at 7:40 pm concluded with a resolution document of 6 articles.
The first was about demonstrating, in a public way, the solidarity of the National Assembly to the relatives of the workers of Diario El Comercio, Javier Ortega Reyes, Paúl Rivas Bravo and Efraín Segarra Abril; of the members of the National Navy, Corporal Wilmer Álvarez Pimentel and Marines: Luis Alfredo Mosquera, Jairon Sandoval Bajaña and Sergio Jordán Cedeño; as well as the Ecuadorian citizens Katty Velasco Pinargote and Oscar Villacís Gómez, kidnapped by the narcoterrorist group called Front Sinisterra Oliver, according to information released by the Interior Minister, Cesar Navas, today. The article also included demonstrations of solidarity with the population of the northern border, affected by these violent events.
The National Assembly also urges the National Government to strengthen the public policy of prevention, which seeks the internal protection of State Security and the maintenance of public order, prioritizing the monitoring of water sources and security in places of mass competition of citizens, such as shopping centers, public buildings, parks, spaces for sporting events and other public spectacles.
The Legislative included the request of Assemblyman Lenín Plaza, who requested that the security ministries, GAD and public and private entities, especially in the border area, implement and socialize the security, emergency or evacuation protocols, in all public buildings, private and places of mass competition.
The authorities should demand that in places where public spectacles and sporting events are held, security, emergency or updated evacuation protocols are available to face the threats that affect our internal security.
The Article document recommends that the Ministry of the Interior stipulate the strengthening of internal and external security of the Social Rehabilitation Centers. To comply with this point, it will also work in conjunction with the Ministry of Justice, which should also strengthen administrative and operational measures to comply with protocols for visits and internal activities in the Centers.
The Ministers of the Interior, César Navas; of Defense, Patricio Zambrano; and of External Relations, María Fernanda Espinosa, once the ten days announced by the President of the Republic are over, they will attend the General Assembly in the General Assembly and will present the measures and actions carried out as of January 27, 2018, in relation to the terrorist attacks registered in the border.
