Assemblywoman denounced alleged discriminatory treatment by an airline
Legislator of the Christian Social Party (PSC) Maria Cristina Kronfle made a complaint through social networks for an alleged discriminatory act she had suffered during a flight from Quito to Guayaquil, by the Tame Public Company.
In a dunning letter uploaded to her Twitter account (@mckronfle) on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, she reported: “The person in charge of the access ramp even seeing that my wheelchair is electric, asked me, in the worst way, if I could walk.” The employee then would have ignored instructions on the wheelchair and “ordered her keep quiet.”
In the letter, handwritten, Kronfle also reported that the employee demanded that the chair was brought later, although Kronfle said that from that point her assistant would carry it. Finally she said that in two occasions the staff member warned her that if she continued to generate controversy the flight would be cancelled. Immediately, Paola Carvajal, current manager of Tame and also former Minister of Public Works, apologized and said that a thorough investigation would be conducted and corrective action would be taken.
