At the end of July it will be awarded oil works exam
Ecuadornews:
The international tender to audit five flagship projects in the hydrocarbon sector will culminate at the end of July with the award of contracts to the winning companies.
Carlos Pérez, Minister of Hydrocarbons, said that “you already have the offers” from private companies, most are international. He reported on Tuesday July 17 at the presentation of the event Ecuador Oil & Power 2018, which will be held between September 19 and 21, in Quito.
The process was conducted by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Ecuador, which today will issue a preliminary report with the selected companies, indicated Hydrocarbons minister to EL TELÉGRAFO.
The document must be known and approved by the headquarters of the UNDP (in the United States) to proceed with the award expected at the end of the month.
In December 2017, the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Petroecuador signed a cooperation agreement with UNDP to convene a technical audit. The projects to be examined are the Esmeraldas Refinery, the Bajo Alto Natural Gas Liquefaction Plant, the Dispatch, Reception and Storage Terminal of the Monteverde LPG, the Pascuales Cuenca Poliducto and the Manabí Refinery (formerly the Pacific Refinery).
The Government denounced a series of irregularities and technical failures in these works. The evaluation will determine the current conditions of the projects, as well as what actions will be taken to reach international standards.
Around $ 7.5 million will be disbursed by Petroecuador, since the referential cost for each audit is $ 1.5 million. Until last May there were 32 international companies interested in the tender.
Once the selection is completed, the winning companies will have 60 days to execute the respective evaluations, explained the Ministry. (I)
