Wednesday the Audit Commission of the National Assembly passed the impeachment request against Minister of Education Augusto Espinosa, requested by Assemblyman of the Avanza party Bayron Pacheco.

The Council for Legislative Administration (CAL), after a meeting on Monday, gave way to the request made by the legislator and sent it to the Audit Commission, which today took cognizance.

The request submitted by Bayron Pacheco was backed by 37 opposition assemblymen and evidence such as newspaper articles and videos. The CAL confirmed that the minister did not meet the legal obligation of contracting insurance policies for the educational infrastructure of Manabi and Esmeraldas, which was affected by the earthquake of last April 16.
