Banks will restructure the debts of disaster victims from Manabi and Esmeraldas

Banks will suspend the collection of debts of natural persons registered in Manabi and the south of Esmeraldas, the most affected areas by the earthquake of April 16, announced Friday the Association of Private Banks of Ecuador (ABPE).
In a statement, the institution said: “We have resolved to defer the collection of April dues and the next two months, from housing loans consumer microcredit and credit cards.” These collections will be resumed “without charge at the end of the period originally agreed.”
For citizens and the business sector, the ABPE will offer in the next two months “solutions to restructure delinquent debts.”(I).
