Barcelona back to lead the scoreboard after defeating Emelec
Last night, Barcelona Sporting Club regained the lead on the scoreboard of the National Championship after winning the game against Club Sport Emelec 5-0 at the Monumental stadium in Guayaquil.
Despite of the 7 different scoring chances, the ‘blue team’ failed to take advantage of Barcelona’s errors during the first half. Marcos Mondaini was expelled at the beginning of the match, after kicking Jose Luis Perlaza in his inner thigh.
Damian Diaz opened the scoring at minute 38. Seven minutes later, a hard kick rejected by Emelec goalkeeper let Narciso Mina took advantage of the rebound scoring the second goal for Barcelona.
The second half was opened with Barcelona’s third goal, again by Narciso Mina. At minute 57 ‘, Mina was fouled by Oscar Bagüi. Michael Arroyo took the penalty setting the score to 4-0.
Damian ‘Kitu’ Diaz sentenced the game at minute 62 ‘ with a goal after a pass from Michael Arroyo.
Almost at the end of the match, Cristian Nasuti from Emelec lost his temper and gave Arroyo a hard kick which caused his immediate expulsion.
With this victory, the bullfighters get 28 points +14 in goal difference, which consolidate the team as the tournament leader, followed by Tecnico Universitario with 27 points. Emelec stayed in fifth place with 24 points.
