Colombian singer Shakira and Barcelona Soccer Team developed an educational program for children in the Hispanic community in Miami called “Football for youth development and healthy living.”
The project is part of an agreement between Colombian singer foundation “Pies Descalzos” and the FC Barcelona Foundation which aims to work with children in vulnerable communities at risk of social exclusion through the construction of sports and recreational facilities in Miami and Cartagena Colombia.
The alliance aims to benefit 28.500 children and young Hispanic form poor resources in the northwest of Miami. From 4.400 children that lives in poverty and participate in this program, a 46% are from Cuban, 22% from Colombia, 12% from Nicaragua, and a 8% from Venezuela. The remaining 12% are from other countries. (BG)
