Posted On 09 Jun 2014
Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad announced a general amnesty on Monday, by presidential decree, which will cover the crimes committed by the Syrian rebels and even foreign fighters, until June 9, 2014.
Syrian state television, quoting the Minister of Justice, assured that the initiative is part of Assad “reconciliation and cohesion after the victories of the Syrian army” in the military field.
According to human rights activists, to this day in Syrian prisons are about 18,000 prisoners.
Remember that it is not the first amnesty declared by President Assad since he took power in 2000. The last amnesty was decreed in October 2013.
