Bird watching. An activity that gains strength in Guayaquil

It starts as a hobby and becomes a passion. Daniel Arias thinks this about bird watching.
Arias is a native tour guide of Quito based in Guayaquil. Bird watching, or “birding” as he calls it, is a hobby that was born about three years ago and he shares with his girlfriend, Ivette Solis, a 23-year-old Biology graduate from the University of Guayaquil. Guayaquil city is a perfect place for this he says.
Last Friday morning, the couple went on a tour to the Parque Linear del Salado at 06:00. Carrying basic equipment to watch and sun protection, the young couple accompanied Belgian citizen Gunther Peeters, 43, who has lived in Ecuador for two years, to make bird watching.
On the trek they found species like kingfishers, tropical perlite, herons, ducks and hummingbirds flitting among the flowers of the garden at the height of the Carlos Julio Arosemena avenue.
