The fauna and flora of the Ecuadorian Amazon in an exhibition
Posted On 13 Feb 2016
From the guayusa plant, whose leaves are used by Amazonian peoples as an energy drink to kick off the day, to a bull horn orchid (Stanophia Florida), typical of this region, these are some of the options the visitor can contemplate in the sample ‘Amazon Route,’ that will be open in Quito until next February 29.
The Ethnographic museum Abya Yala, which displays the culture and way of life of the Amazonian people; and the Ecuador-Mindalae Ethnohistoric museum of Crafts, where everyday items of Amazon natives are displayed ; and the Ecuadorian Museum of Natural Sciences, which speaks of the jungle, are part of this exhibition
The Vivarium and the Botanical Garden, where the flora of the region is exhibited, is also part of the ‘Amazon Route.’
