After the death of Joffre Sanchez, a young Ecuadorian who lost his life in an uncertain way on the tracks of a train in Spain, his mother Bella Garcés and close friends decided to turn to the offices of the National Secretariat for Migrants in Madrid and do the paperwork for the repatriation of his body.
In that State they were informed that the documentation for repatriation will take from 1 to 3 months. Because of the need, they decided to work on different activities to raise money.
“We sold ceviches, corviches; we made posters with his photos, and we sold them to the neighbors for 10 Euros. He was loved and supported us a lot,” said Danny, a friend of the deceased.
He also revealed that several political organizations, campaigning for the Assembly, offered them money, but they didn´t accepted.
“We do not want them to take political advantage of this tragedy, we want to collect all the money from start to end, that is our pride,” he said.
Joffre was the son of former soccer player Joffre “Pajarito” Sanchez, who played for teams such as Barcelona and Emelec. The young man of 24 years old, and soccer fan was found dead the morning of January 13, on the rails of the train station of Atocha Renfe going south, nobody witnessed what happened. Days later his body was returned to his family.
