Brother of Minister Serrano is Murdered
Last night a call was made to ECU-911 in Ecuador; a trembling voice asked for help to the National Police. Juan Antonio Serrano Salgado, 36, was stabbed in the neck when he tried to calm down a quarrel outside a private party in the home of Manuel Salgado, uncle of the Interior Minister, Jose Serrano Salgado.
According to the testimonies a group of six young men tried to enter the party, but the event was already ending. When the youths were denied the entrance a violent brawl started. Juan Antonio Serrano tried to calm them down, but one the youths stabbed him in the neck, he died instantly.
With the help of the security cameras installed in the city of Cuenca, police officers where able to apprehend the six suspects involved in the killing. They were immediately transported to the Judicial Police, afterwards they where sent to the Provisional Detention Center (CDP for its Spanish acronym), a six suspect was captured drunk several hours later. The man behind the stabbing was identified as Angel Esteban, the murdering weapon was found in the avenue 27 de Febrero.
When Minister Serrano finally arrived he asked the press to understand his pain and that the death of his brother was not in retaliation for his work in Interior Ministry. AV
