Budget expenditures are questioned
Posted On 20 Nov 2015
The government focused its investment plan in 570 projects for 2016. Some opposition sectors consider that this choice was not the most rigorous.
The first voice came out of the National Assembly. The independent legislator Ramiro Aguilar questioned the amounts allocated for the Ecuadorian Space Institute, for example. In the Annual Investment Plan of next year, 1.8 million are envisaged to strengthen the “research capacity” of the institution and the generation of geo-information.
A similar amount will be delivered to the National Plan for the strengthening of the Family. The Presidency will give two million dollars to the project.
The leader of the SUMA Movement in Guayas, Hector Yepez, questioned other expenses reflected in the plan. The resources allocated to implement the television channel of the Presidency, Ciudadano TV, for $ 1.9 million and the expansion of the radio program of the Ministry of Communication, Habla Ecuador (2.3 million) are some examples.
In a year in which, according to President Rafael Correa, there will be no oil revenues, Yepez says, we must eliminate unnecessary expenses. He believes that instead of sponsoring the works of the Ministry of Good Living, which in 2016 will cost $ 500,000, they should improve health care and pay the debt for health benefits to the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security. The directory of the IESS has denied that the outstanding bill would total 1.875 million.
