Business sector makes objections to the bill of partnerships
The absence of a representative of the private sector in the Inter-Agency Committee and the inclusion of a provision that ratifies the payment of the 2 per thousand on total assets tax, are the objections so far the business sector has on the draft Law on Public-Private Partnerships processed by the National Assembly.
The aforementioned tax, charged since 1945, has caused disagreement between employers and the University of Guayaquil, beneficiary of the tax, after it was modified in 2014.
Francisco Alarcon, head of the Chamber of Industries of Guayaquil, rejected yesterday at a press conference “the intention to revive a tax that has been repealed” and insisted that the 2 per thousand tax was canceled in 2014 with the entry into force of the Organic Monetary code.
He also assured that the provision ratifies that the collection of this tax was not among the proposed drafts the business sector learned about.
