Thanks to a new law against “Revenge Porn”, the state of California has banned the online publication of photographs where one former partner appears nude or in compromising positions, even if they were taken with his/her consent.
The so called “Revenge Porn law” came into effect on Tuesday after Jerry Brown, Governor of California (west) approved and signed it. Thanks to this bill, SB 255, the accused of “unlawfully distributing private images with the intent to harass or annoy” could face a fine of up to $ 1,000.
The previous bill forbade publishing unauthorized photos that invade the privacy of the subjects, however, this new California law now covers the photographs that were taken with the subject’s consent.
