Carla Bruni Gives Birth to Girl
The French first lady, Carla Bruni, has given birth to a baby girl on Wednesday at around 20:00 GMT in the clinic La Muette in Paris, according to the radio station Gala Europe 1.
Bruni had been admitted in this morning at the clinic, where the presidential couple had reserved four rooms. The baby’s father, President Nicolas Sarkozy briefly visited Carla early in the afternoon.
Sarkozy, however, did not attend the childbirth and, in fact, he neither was in France at the time of the birth of her fourth child, the second one for Bruni.
This is the first time a French head of state has a child during his tenure. Everything related to pregnancy and the birth of this child – of which Bruni even said she did not know the sex – has been surrounded by strong secrecy and advance the Elysee that had not officially confirmed the birth.
