Ecuadorian Photographer Carlos Serrano Proaño won the first place in the Competition “National Award Ecuador”, which is part of the Sony World Photography Awards (SWPA) 2013, one of the biggest photography programs in the world.
For this national artist, his work “Esperanza” (Hope), represents “the portrait of the daily woman, her fight, nobility, strength, love, tenderness, understanding, humility, intelligence, wisdom, purity, innocence, work, dedication, support, the effort required from her to obtain equality in society.”
As a reward, his work will be exhibited at the Somerset House in London, from April 26 till May 12. He also won a Sony Alpha SLT-A57K camera.
“Is an honor to receive this award and I’m very pleased that my work is recognized by such a high group of select professional photographers,” said the artist.
