Casa Buñuel presents photographic exhibition of Spanish actors of the exile in Mexico
Casa Buñuel, located in Mexico City, held a photo exhibition entitled “Across the Front”, which seeks to pay homage to the wider community of actors, that from the remembered as golden age of Mexican cinema (between the mid-thirty to mid-fifties), became recurring for spectators.
The Ambassador of Spain in Mexico, Luis Fernández-Cid, highlighted Buñuel as “the father of a common imaginary that united Spain and Mexico with its dreamlike portraits of what both contries share and what sets them apart”.
The exhibition consists of 130 portraits and images from movies of the era, among which are: Rosita Díaz Gimeno, José Baviera, Prudencia Grifell, Ofelia Guilmáin, Emilia Guiú, Pedro López Lagar, Angel Garasa and Francisco Reiguera.
The Ambassador noted that this would be a “unique initiative that offers the possibility of approaching the work that many actors developed during the most successful years of Mexican cinema”. The exhibition will run until the end of 2014 in Casa Buñuel, by appointment contacting to the mail: info@cbm.mx mail.
