Cerec Holding ready to ‘drink’ Brahma beer
Posted On 28 Aug 2017
Ecuadornews:
Brahma beer will have a new owner. The Department of Market Power Control approved the sale of the Ambev Ecuador production plant. With the green light of the regulatory body, the merger of AB InBev -former owner of the mill- and Cerveceria Nacional comes to an end.
The buyer group, reported the representatives of AB InBev, is Cerec Holding Company S.A. It is not the only fulfillment. The newly merged company (as it already happened in several countries of the world) also made available “refrigerators for craft beers and drinks of the popular economy.” That step was demanded by Antimonopoly so that small producers have a space of promotion.
If the 11 conditions are not met, the merger, which is already a reality, can be reversed. It is yet to be decided what will happen with the Club brand, which is produced by Cerverceria Nacional, and which according to the control agency, must be sold.
But AB InBev brought the case to court, and a judge in Guayaquil decided that they were not required to sell the Club beer. (I)
