Chavez Undergoes Surgery in Cuba
Posted On 29 Feb 2012
Venezuelan president, Hugo Chavez, is in “good physical condition” after surgeons in Cuba removed an injury from his pelvic area. This is the latest operation Chavez had since surgeons removed a cancerous tumour last year from the same area.
Elias Jaua, the vice-president of Venezuela, stated, “the diagnosed pelvic injury was totally extracted.” Chavez, 57, was intervened on Monday at the Centre for Medical-Surgical Research (CIMEQ for its Spanish acronym), which is considered Cuba’s most modern hospital.
Venezuelan officials have no specified the type of cancer Chavez has, but they have denied the disease has spread to other organs. (AV)
