Chavez Vital Signs Remain Stable After a Respiratory Infection
After being diagnosed with a “respiratory infection” as a result of a cancer operation that the Venezuelan president, Hugo Chavez underwent last week in Cuba, now the president’s health is “stable”.
“The general condition of the commander is of stability after last Monday (…) when he was diagnosed a respiratory infection that the medical team immediately proceeded to treat and has been controlled,” informed the Communications Minister Ernesto Villegas.
This type of discomfort is “one of the consequences that occur more frequently in patients who have undergone complicated surgeries,” said Villegas, adding that Chavez must remain in “absolute rest“ in the coming days the doctors will give new orders.
Chavez has not yet reacted to the results of Sunday’s regional elections in which the ruling party won 20 of the 30 governorships. He hasn’t accompanied their candidates in the run-up he usually did.
