Chevron Appealed the Ecological Damage Trial
The multinational Chevron Corp. appealed the trial that a judge filed the company for an alleged an environmental pollution in indigenous territories in Ecuador. This process takes an amount of around $8,646 million.
This appeal aims to discard the demand raised by various indigenous communities, which has been in court for over 17 years, because of alleged irregularities during the trial. This request was made late on Wednesday before the Provincial Court of Sucumbios.
The document of 192 pages that was delivered by Chevron will be reviewed by the Sucumbíos judge, o, who issued the adverse ruling to the U.S. firm last week.
Zambrano granted an additional 10% to the value already established for indigenous communities to use it according to their needs and he ordered Chevron to publicly apologize for the damage caused.
