Chilean university students’ protests resulted in violence
Chilean police reported yesterday during a protest carried out by university students, a total of 102 detainees and four policemen injured, after the incidents experienced in the Chilean capital as part of a national strike and a march for education.

The protests, according to student organizations from high school and college, gathered about 100,000 protesters in Santiago and were simultaneously given in the main cities of the region.
According to the police report, of the hundred detained, 52 were children, one of them was arrested for a bank robbery and another one for possession of an incendiary device. Damage to property was extensive.
On the night, students held a pots and pans protest at the Plaza Baquedano, where a thousand people met, and in the Nunoa and Brazil squares, where a few hundred gathered, without major violence incidents.
